2 Chronicles 28:22

Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. revolt...: Heb. increase revolt

Because it is a trial, and what if the sword contemn even the rod? it shall be no more, saith the Lord GOD. Because...: or, When the trial hath been, what then? shall they not also belong to the despising rod?

And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early. acknowledge...: Heb. be guilty

O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
