Genesis 3:18

For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, it shall even be for briers and thorns.

Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.

Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:

He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth; And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart. oil...: Heb. to make his face shine with oil, or, more than oil

But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.

And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city: yea...: or, burning upon

And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
