Jeremiah 31:9

Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?

And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:

In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.

That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?

Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD. are...: Heb. sound

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes. grass...: or, a court for reeds, etc And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. but...: or, for he shall be with them

But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me. from me: Heb. from after me a goodly...: Heb. an heritage of glory, or, beauty pleasant...: Heb. land of desire

But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. green...: Heb. pastures of tender grass still...: Heb. waters of quietness

Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
