Job 21:3

They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.

Are there not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation? continue: Heb. lodge

My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God. scorn me: Heb. are my scorners

Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will. Hold...: Heb. Be silent from me

I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn. He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?

Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak. If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee. If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.
