Job 22:11

Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.

[To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David.] Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. deep mire: Heb. the mire of depth deep waters: Heb. depth of waters

For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. midst: Heb. heart

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.

They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night. meet...: or, run into

He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.

A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. of many...: Heb. of generation and generation A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.

The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?

But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
