Job 3:13

One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet. his...: Heb. his very, or, the strength of, his perfection

If a man beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he. For he cometh in with vanity, and departeth in darkness, and his name shall be covered with darkness. Moreover he hath not seen the sun, nor known any thing: this hath more rest than the other.

If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.

They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. in wealth: or, in mirth

A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.

The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more: thine eyes are upon me, and I am not. I am...: that is, I can live no longer As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.

Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. another: Heb. a stranger though...: or, my reins within me are consumed with earnest desire (for that day within...: Heb. in my bosom

But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? wasteth...: Heb. is weakened, or, cut off As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up: So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.
