Luke 1:52

He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way. wilderness: or, void place Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock. from: or, after

And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. offended: scandalized in, or, by him

Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth! He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill; That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: close: Heb. hedge, or, wall

Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: rejoice: or, glory But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

For out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becometh poor.

To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety. He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. their enterprise: or, any thing He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead. number: Heb. searching out Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed. destroyed: Heb. crushed He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others; open...: Heb. place of beholders Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways: him: Heb. after him So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.
