Matthew 6:6

He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the LORD.

Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
