Nehemiah 9:17

For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.

They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy. from...: or, from affliction How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan: wrought: Heb. set

And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt? And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity. brought...: or, impoverished, or, weakened Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry: And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.

The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. of great...: Heb. great in mercy The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
