Psalms 21:11

The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. The wicked...: Heb. In the pride of the wicked he doth persecute

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? rage: or, tumultuously assemble imagine: Heb. meditate

And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.

But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city:

Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,

Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.

And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings. But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered. the tree...: Heb. the stalk with his bread

They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. people and: or, people, yet Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal: vex: or, waken Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
